Reflections August 2021

Tutoring in 2020 and 2021 was quite certainly an experience like no other! After many months of face to face teaching both in school and as a tutor, being thrown into online tutoring took a bit of getting used to! However, this was nothing like the challenges faced by my students, who suddenly found themselves home learning, with variable levels of support and content from their schools.

August 2020 and August 2021 brought the joy of the GCSE and A Level Results. A Levels results in French and German 2020 were certainly the subject of a lot of worry for my students in the weeks before results day, but on the day itself they were not disappointed! August 2021 in particular saw all my GCSE students achieve a minimum of 2 grades improvement compared to the grades they were achieving when they started lessons with me. Moving from a 4/5 to a 7 or 8 is absolutely amazing and I am super proud of my students. What a great day that was!

Looking to the new term, I will be publishing more on my tutoring, sharing my practice and approaches to supporting my students, either as face to face teaching or online teaching (Zoom, Skype and so on).

I look forward to hearing from any new parents interested in tutoring for their children, and adults wishing to learn a new skill for work or holidays!

All the best
